OUR ECOSYSTEM
Lakes. Rocks. Trees. Angels?

Entrepreneurship is a relentless pursuit. That’s what drives us. It’s why we go to work. We’re building a community that rallies behind Ontario’s bravest and boldest entrepreneurs. People who are willing to risk it all to build new and better ways of doing things.

Building our community up is a lot like scaling a startup. It demands an entrepreneurial spirit. You need clever people with bold ideas that are willing to challenge the status quo. You need capital. And you need access to mentoring and support. We offer you all of that.

It takes a village

We’re not in this alone. Neither are you. In fact, all our funded Startups are connected to at least one Ontario regional innovation center or incubator of their choice. This is something we insist upon when negotiating your Term Sheet. As investors, our job is to help set you up for success. Because when you win — we all win.

Are you connected?

If you are connected with a, Innovation Centre, accelerator or incubator,
be sure to let us know when you apply!

No “Eureka” Moment, just lots of iterations of ideas,

SAYS CANADIAN TECH TITAN

When Muskoka 4.0 launched in 2019, we were proud to have Michelle Romanow headline our event and speak to our community and our finalists. A Canadian entrepreneur and dragon on CBC’s Dragons’ Den, Michelle told us — and our inaugural winner, Rolldog — about how her business success came not from ‘eureka’ moments, but from painstaking iterations of ideas over time until the market took notice.

We’re on the same kind of journey to transform our community — and strengthen northern Ontario’s innovation ecosystem.

A dynamic nesting environment.

We know that when most Founders and CEO’s think of Muskoka they think of lakes, rocks, and trees — and an extraordinary quality of life that promotes being outdoors and being connected to nature. We’re putting $250K and access to innovation centres across Ontario on the table, now — because we want Founders and CEO’s to think about being connected to the support they need, and access to capital, too.

We know that COVID-19 has been hard on families and entrepreneurs. And we know that there is no shortage of need for early-stage capital.

That’s why in 2020, when Ontario and much of the world locked down, we pivoted and went low-key. We passed on our fancy Annual Gala but we continued to move forward and award $250K to Ontario health tech startup, NextUp Care. And that’s why, in 2021 — we’re back again, and we’ve doubled down. We remain focused on early-stage companies that typically have 1-5 employees.

This is Muskoka 4.0

We’re connected to innovation partners across the province. We’ve got 1 Gig internet where it matters most. And early stage capital — lots of it. So, in a world where you can work from anywhere – why not work from here?

Winning Muskoka 4.0 has helped us take our startup to the next level, faster than we could ever have imagined.

We’re grateful for the continued mentorship from MaRS and we remain connected to their vital ecosystem – while being able to access capital, partners and support here in Muskoka. It’s truly a nesting environment – not just for my venture – also for my family. The investors at Muskoka 4.0 are serious about helping us scale and ensure that we have access to the support we need to be successful on a global stage.
